Hanzhongmen is one of the thirteen original Ming gates and was originally know as Shichengmen (Gate of the Stone City), because it was the gate near the old Chu-era city known as Shitoucheng. Only parts of this gate and it's courtyards survive to this day. As can be seen in the picture below, the gate was in pretty bad shape before its latest restoration. Today Hanzhong Lu, a major east-west artery runs just to the north of this gate and its surrounding plaza.
